Annual Santa Maria Vegetable Meeting on September 24, 2015

The University of California Cooperative Extension’s Strawberry and Vegetable Crops Advisor, Surendra Dara is hosting his Annual Santa Maria Vegetable Meeting September 24, 2015 from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm.

The meeting will be held at Bonipak Conference Room, 1850 West Stowell Road in Santa Maria.  University of California farm advisors, scientists, and an Ag biologist from the Agricultural Commissioner will provide updates on laws and regulations, coastal vegetable crops pathology, insect pest problems, and postharvest handling and will also discuss new developments in irrigation, nutrition, weed, pest, and disease management and postharvest handling.  Three hours of DPR and three and a half hours of CCA continuing education credits have been requested.  The meeting is free, and lunch will be provided.  For the detailed agenda and to register, go to

Following the Vegetable Meeting, from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm, Surendra Dara will host a CropManage workshop, which is designed to teach people in the agricultural industry a software program that improves the efficiency of farming operations and adds value to consulting services.  This is a hands-on step-by-step training on how to navigate through the program, which aids in fertilizer and water management decisions and record keeping practices.  Wi-Fi is available so bring a laptop or tablet computer to follow along in learning the steps.  Two and a half hours of CCA continuing education credits have been requested.  The meeting is free.  For the detailed agenda and to register, go to http://ucanr.edu/cropmanageworkshop.
