
Research is using almond hulls to make a better organic chicken feed. Hulls can increase a critical amino acid naturally in black soldier fly larvae, a key feed option in organic poultry production. Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Jean Vandergheynst is heading the project and said the lower-quality hulls are surprisingly proving to be the best.
