Everett Griner talks about this year’s planting of corn, wheat, and our number one crop, soybeans in today’s Agri View.
As you travel across the backroads of this country, even the interstates, you see vast fields of wheat. It has many uses, but essentially it is the bread we put on our table. If you didn’t see all of that wheat, you would see corn. It is also grown for many 
uses. But, it is a pleasant sight to see.
You don’t likely pay much attention to soybeans. But when planting time is over this season, soybeans will be the biggest crop in this country.
Soybean growers are expected to plant over 90 million acres this year. Again, more than one use. But principally it is the oil. You see, soybean oil is versatile and it is cheaper. Cheaper than most other vegetable oils. Oh yes, about half of our soybean crop is exported.
