How many of you were raised on a farm? Do you remember your farm vehicle? Everett Griner talks about the new pickup truck is a luxury vehicle instead of a farm vehicle in today’s Agri View.
Luxury Pickup Truck
I read a surprising feature recently. Here is the essence of that feature. The average time a family owns a car is now five years. It used to be three. There is no average time for the use of the pickup truck. Today it is more than a family farm or utility vehicle. In the early days a farmer bought one and they kept it until they wore it out. A lot of farmers still do.
The truck itself is the reason for the change. Once it was the only vehicle the family owned. It took them to town, vacation, and to church. This may shock you, but it still does. It is not the two-door, one seat, vehicle anymore. It is likely to have four doors, two seats, and all of the conveniences of a luxury car.
No, the pickup is no longer a farm utility vehicle. Some dealers sell more trucks than they do cars.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
