Well, sit down to a hot off of the grill steak, most people will not know if it is grain fed or grass-fed. If it is cooked to their liking, that is all that matters. There are those who can tell the difference. If it is grass-fed, one bite is enough. To many people, grass-fed beef just doesn’t have the deep flavor of grain-fed.
Never been tested, so I don’t know if I can tell the difference or not. I read a feature recently about grain-fed beef. The grain-fed cow produces 11 percent more fat than grass-fed. It is the fat that makes the difference. It is not something that shows up on your plate. They look just alike. You take away the fat, you take away the taste. That’s the contention of those who prefer grain-fed.
It doesn’t show. Consumers in the supermarket can’t tell the difference. Grass-fed. Grain-fed. It all looks just alike.
