Everett Griner talks about what is really involved in feeding America in today’s Agri View.
Feeding America
How many people does it take to feed us? You and me. All of us. Well, more than you think.
About 21 and a half million people. Not just farmers now. I’m talking about the food industry. Those in production, processing, distribution, retail and service. It is the largest employment section in the country. Those of us who eat well have no idea that this is the most difficult job in America.
It is an industry with an abundant poor working conditions, low wages, discrimination and abuse.
There is one bright spot. There is plenty of jobs available, but there is little chance for promotion.
And the injury and illness ratio is very high.
One other fact. Women earn less than men.
It is obvious the rest of us owe much more to those who feed us. Don’t you think?
Well, think about it.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner.
