Everett Griner talks about why dropping out of TPP is not good for cattle trade in today’s Agri View.
I don’t know if it is to late for us to get involved in the TPP International Trade Pact or not. But presently, our President has withdrawn us completely. Let’s see, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Canada, and Hong Kong are some of the countries that make up that trade group.
That is where 83 percent of all the beef exported from the United States goes. Meanwhile, our national beef herd is expanding. As that happens, the demand for beef worldwide is expanding. I don’t have to say anymore for you to see the position that puts our cattlemen in. As one expert expressed it. “Our beef production expands, and so is that of Argentina, Australia, and Brazil. Those cattlemen will be after the same consumer market that we are.”
I think it is easy to see what dropping out of TPP has done to worry our cattle farmers.
That’s agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
