Featured Speakers
Dr. Rob Atwill will cover the state of the knowledge on animal sources and best management practices for waterborne microbial pollutants in grazed watersheds and the many challenges of using fecal indicator bacteria as predictors of water quality pathogens. Dr. Atwill is a Professor with the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and Director of the Western Institute for Food Safety and Security.
Patty Kouyoumdjian is the Executive Officer for the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board, and an Executive Sponsor for the Grazing Regulatory Action Project (GRAP). She will discuss the policies and compliance requirements that water board decision-makers and staff must address via grazing related water quality programs. She will also describe the types of information and collaborations that would aid water boards to develop and implement effective and efficient grazing lands water quality protection programs.
Tim Koopmann is the Water Resource Specialist and Manager for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC). He will detail the development of sustainable grazing policies and strategies formulated over the past 30 years to protect drinking water quality, reduce risk of wildfire, conserve sensitive species and habitat, and support ranching families on over 30,000 acres of municipal rangelands.

We are seeking submissions for the poster session at the 2015 Rustici Rangeland Symposium on March 3-4, 2015. Posters should describe novel and interesting work, and demonstrate clear results and implications for the rangeland science, management, and policy communities.
