targeted

Cooperative Extension personnel are working to compile a comprehensive list of ranchers who do targeted grazing.  Livestock and Range Management Advisor in Sonoma County, Stephanie Larson has been reaching out to many livestock operators about methods for increasing vegetation management through the practice of grazing.  In cooperation with the Rangeland Management Advisory Committee, Larson is working to develop a list of individuals interested in performing targeted grazing, which will be open to all contract grazers in California.

The purpose is to publish the list online through the “Match.Graze” system which connects landowners who have no animals, to targeted grazers that can bring their animals on to properties to perform vegetation management service.  For landowners and agencies dealing with parcels that are larger than 50 acres, the system can be a great resource to economically address vegetation issues.  Grazers are invited to take the UC ANR survey if they are interested in participating.
