China claims a trade meeting in Chile this week is not strictly about the Trans-Pacific Partnership, once led by the United States. Representatives from the 12 member countries that formed the TPP, along with China and South Korea are meeting in Chile.
The government of Chile plans to send the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement to its Congress for approval by the end of this year. The 12-nation agreement aims to liberalize trade business in 40 percent of the world’s economy.
USDA APHIS is seeking comments on a proposed rule to amend the import requirements on fresh lemon fruit from Chile into the continental United States. The proposed rule will be available for review and the comment period will be reopened for 30 days ending September 26, 2016.
