Celebrating National Deviled Egg Day

Known for making its appearance as a favorite hors-d’oeuvres or side dish for parties, holidays, family reunions and potluck dinners, deviled eggs are the star of the show today.

It’s National Deviled Egg Day. Deviled eggs, also known as eggs mimosa, stuffed egg, salad eggs, or dressed eggs, are hard boiled eggs which have been shelled, cut in half and filled with the hard-boiled egg’s yolk mixed with other ingredients such as mayonnaise and mustard. They’re also a hit when made with colorful relishes, spicy peppers, pimentos or savory herbs. Add a little crunch to them by adding bacon. Or a little more creamy with sour cream, or a bit more tart with added vinegar.

At around 80 calories each, eggs are a staple for anyone following the keto diet. And low carb deviled eggs without vinegar are a favorite for anyone avoiding unnecessary carbs.
