The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced the Organic Dairy Marketing Assistance Program (ODMAP) 2024, providing $58 million in marketing assistance to certified organic dairy producers. This program aims to help farmers expand their markets and boost the consumption of organic dairy products.

Zach Ducheneaux, Farm Service Agency (FSA) Administrator, highlighted the USDA’s commitment to supporting organic dairies during tough times. ODMAP 2024 addresses the needs of the industry by increasing payment rates from $1.10 to $1.68 per hundredweight and raising the production cap for assistance from five million to nine million pounds.

Eligible organic dairy operations include those producing milk from cows, goats, and sheep. Applications will be accepted from September 30 to November 29. Producers must provide documentation of their organic certification and production history. This program not only aims to stabilize the organic dairy market but also complements existing support like Dairy Margin Coverage, which has already delivered over $36 million in benefits this year. For more information, producers can visit the FSA Dairy Programs webpage.
