The United States Department of Agriculture added another 5.1 million pounds of beef to a previous recall.
On October 4, the USDA announced a recall on more than 6. 9 million pounds of JBS Tolleson, Inc., raw beef products that may have been contaminated with Salmonella Newport. Now, an additional 5.1 millions pounds of beef was added to that list, totaling in more than 12 millions pounds of recalled beef.
The recall is for beef products produced or packaged between July 26 and September 7.
In a USDA statement, the Food Safety and Inspection Service noted people should check their freezer, toss or return any frozen products posted between that date.
