Innovation took center stage at the World Ag Expo, where Ecorobotix showcased its high-precision spot sprayer, ARA. The company’s Crop Care Manager, Katerina Lee, shared insights on how the technology aims to address key agricultural challenges, particularly in reducing labor and input costs.
The ARA sprayer, recognized as one of the top ten new products at the expo, offers multiple spraying functions. According to Lee, it can selectively target weeds, spray crops, or perform a broadcast application, making it a versatile tool for growers. “Our machine is not a one-focus approach,” she said. “You’re able to go through and either spray specifically the weeds that you’re targeting, spray the crop, or do a broadcast spray.”
Reducing labor costs and herbicide use is a major concern for many farmers, and Lee highlighted how ARA addresses these issues. By applying herbicides only where needed, growers can cut chemical use while also decreasing the need for manual weed removal later in the crop cycle. “By eliminating the herbicides that are placed onto crops at a young stage, you’re promoting a stronger crop that has less of a stunting or phytotoxic response, ultimately leading to more uniform plants and yields,” Lee explained.
Ecorobotix, in its second year at the expo, has received positive attention for its advancements in precision agriculture. Lee noted the value of the World Ag Expo as a space for industry professionals to engage with the latest technologies and ask questions in a collaborative environment.
“It’s a family event, and ultimately, being able to see the latest and greatest technology in a setting that allows you to ask questions and come from a place of curiosity is invaluable,” she said. “Everyone here is willing to educate, and there are no dumb questions.”
With growing pressures on farmers to optimize efficiency and sustainability, tools like the ARA sprayer may play an increasing role in the future of agriculture.
