The USDA says production throughout the nation is now down 4% from their original forecast in October. The original forecast was for 215 million boxes, and is now down to 207 million boxes. The forecast is also 7-thousand tons lower than 2011-2012 production. However, the change is mainly for Florida’s oranges. California’s forecast remains unchanged, and production is up about 1 percent from the previous year.
