If you are looking for something to add to your garden, or yard, Cathy Isom is letting you know about one of the easiest fruit trees to harvest and grow. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.

One of the Easiest Fruit Trees to Grow

If you’re looking for an easy to manage fruit tree that is both beautiful and bountiful, than try your hand at growing plums.

There are many different types of plums that take to a wide variety of climates, so there’s likely one that will thrive in your space. Plums are typically categorized by European, Japanese, hybrid, and American types.

Although you can find plums that will grow in a variety of ranges, plums generally do well in zones 3-10. Give them plenty of sun about 6 to 8 hours per day.

Pollination is key with plums. Make sure you look at the bloom times with the varieties you are planting to ensure they’re compatible.

Planting lavender around your plum trees can help protect them from plum moths and other worm pests which eat on the fruit. Other companion plants to have nearby:  Garlic, strawberry, nasturtium, chamomile, chives, and borage. Avoid planting plums near black walnut, white pine, or hawthorns.
