Almond Alliance
We’ve been discussing the new Almond Alliance of California. President Kelly Covello tells us more about the alliance and its recent transition from the Almond Hullers and Processors Association.

More On Almond Alliance of CA
“With our new direction, our membership at our annual meeting did vote unanimously to change the association’s name to the Almond Alliance of California to reflect that broader mandate and support our strategic plan,” Covello says. “A big part of that plan is realigning the two organizations that represent the almond industry which is the Almond Board of California and us.”

Covello says this shift has been in the works for awhile. “We’ve been working on this for about three years,” Covello says. “We signed a memorandum of agreement with the Almond Board of California which serves like a contract between the two organizations. This allows the Almond Board to basically be a consultant for our association. It’s really maximizing the investment that growers and industry members have put into the Almond Board. They do a fantastic job and have a whole library of resources, data and research that can support our advocacy agenda and our position as we look at different policies.”
