Livestock and poultry groups are urging congress to repeal the Renewable Fuel Standard.

It comes just after a trio senators introduced the bi-partisan Renewable Fuels Standard Repeal Act. Several groups, including the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, National Chicken Council, and the National Turkey Federation, are supporting the Act. This year alone, about 40 percent of the nation’s corn crop will be used as corn-based ethanol because of the mandates, which means the country’s livestock producers will have even less feed for their stock than what’s left after the drought and other weather problems.
