Cathy Isom fills us in about the weeklong annual food holiday everyone is sure to love. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.
The entire second week of January, from the 8th to the 14th, is surely one of America’s favorite weeks to enjoy a favorite pastime meal or leftover snack. That’s because this week is known as National Pizza Week. That’s right an entire week to honor Pizza!
For many of us, Pizza is a weekly staple for dinner on any given night. And it’s no surprise to know that about 3 billion pizzas are sold in the U-S every year. And, according to a Gallup Poll, kids between the ages of 3 and 11 prefer pizza over all other food groups for lunch and dinner. Pizzas include some of the greatest ingredients that are grown in gardens and farms all over the U-S. Ingredients such as tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, and other vegetables. And also, beef, chicken, olives, onions and cheeses – all of which come straight from the farm.
No matter how you prefer your slice, deep dish or thin crust, extra pepperoni or sausage, use the hashtag #nationalpizzaweek to show America your love.
