Campbell Soup Company Joins Plant Based Lobbying Group

Dan Industry News Release

campbell soupAfter dropping out of the Grocery Manufacturers Association earlier this year, Campbell Soup Company is joining the Plant-Based Foods Association or PBFA.

Bloomberg calls the move a major gesture by an industry giant acknowledging retreating consumer demand for meat and dairy-heavy food.

The company maintains its move to leave the Grocery Manufacturers Association wasn’t in preparation to join PBFA, but rather a difference in stance on biotech labeling. While PBFA counts more than 80 companies as members, Campbell Soup is by far its largest.

Campbell joins the ranks of dairy-free and plant-only food companies that market to vegans and vegetarians.

However, an industry expert points out that: “Plant-based foods and proteins are not exclusive to vegetarian and vegan households any longer.”

Campbell says the company hopes the partnership will help it expand access to its plant-based offerings.
