I’m Mark Oppold with an American Agriculture History Minute.

There’s a Hall of Fame for every major sport and many institutions, and so it is with agriculture. The Ag Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs, Kansas, near Kansas City, was federally chartered in 1960. Its purpose was, and is, to honor individuals who have made major contributions to the establishment or improvement in American agriculture.

The first inductees after 1960 included George Washington Carver, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Cyrus McCormick. The most recent inductees, former senators from Kansas, Pat Roberts and Bob Dole. The Ag Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs, Kansas.

That’s today’s American Agriculture History Minute. I’m Mark Oppold. Thanks for reading. I’ll see you next time.
