Everett Griner talks about withdrawing from NAFTA could be disastrous for agriculture in today’s Agri View.
There is a lot about NAFTA, North American Free Trade Agreement, that most Americans don’t understand. In fact, I would say there is very little they do understand. Here are just a few things that economist say would most likely happen.
Over 250,000 U.S. jobs would dry up in the food and agriculture industries.
The Gross Domestic Product would fall as much as 13 billion dollars from the farm sector alone.
U.S. pork production would decline by as much as 5 percent. This alone would cost over 15,000 jobs. Jobs that sustain American families.
Corn, beef, and poultry production would all decline.
The question is. Is it worth it? I believe you know the answer.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
