Agri View: Pickup Truck

DanAgri View

pickup truckEverett Griner talks about the pickup truck, and the changes in their use, in today’s Agri View.

You know it wasn’t built just for farmers. But, the pickup truck was promoted as a farm vehicle. From 1903 to 2000 that is where you found it mostly. And then, it changed. But the pickup is still one of the top money makers out of Detroit.

This year, all three major builders are showing newly designed models. And, they are not necessarily designed for farmers. No. It isn’t for farmers anymore. It is for profit. The figures I have show that trucks will earn a much bigger profit than cars.

But, the pickup lost it’s farm image when they added a second seat, and two more doors. And, the price is generally more expensive than a car. Farmers do buy pickups, because farmers still need pickups. And, they are found on just practically every farm in the country.

That’s Agri View for Today. I’m Everett Griner…
