Everett Griner takes a look at the H-2A Program, explains what it is, and why it is important to agriculture in today’s Agri View.
Officially it is known as the H-2A Program. It is a law farmers use to bring migrant workers into the United States to help produce our crops. In reality, farmers do not like the H-2A Program. But, it is all they have to bring the help in that is vital to our fruit and vegetable crops. It is seriously important to dairy and livestock operations.
A newer, more effective program was supposed to be in effect for the 2018 crop. But it isn’t. Everett tells us what Congress is doing to try to get the new program completed, and, what farmers are doing while we wait for the new program.
