Everett Griner talks about farmers not concerned about challenges ahead with the growing population in today’s Agri View.
Growing Population Challenges
Feeding the world population of 9 billion people is still a challenge to agriculture. The farmers who grow the crops don’t seem to be worried. Looking at their efforts in the last half century one can understand why. You see, between 1950 and 2015 production of all farm products grew 169 percent. They did it on less land, and with less labor. You don’t need to be a scientist to see how. Improvements in productivity. That came from investors and all of the research and development. That brought us better seeds, better chemicals, and much better farm equipment. So, you might say, there must be a limit to how long this can continue. Farmers are not worried. These are the researchers and producers of the technology that has brought us to where we are. The six major research companies that serve agriculture today, will soon be four. Something to think about.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
