Everett Griner talks about the difference in the cost of eating out compared to eating a home cooked meal in today’s Agri View.
Eating Out
I don’t eat out as often as I used to and I just found out that I am saving money. A new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates food away from home is moving up in prices at a more rapid pace than that purchased and prepared at home. Actually, food at home cost slightly less now than it did a year ago. The bureau says the reason is simple. Meat process are lower than they were a year ago. That includes beef, pork, poultry, fish and eggs. On average food prepared at home declined slightly, over 2 percent, in the past 12 months. While food away from home rose over 2 percent. Now I am looking at those figures and I’m seeing the overall cost is just about the same. So I guess the lot depends on whether you want to cook and wash dishes.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner
