Everett Griner talks about how the warm winter weather brought trouble in today’s Agri View.
Changing Weather
This past winter was one of the warmest winters we have had in a long time. But, with it came more bad weather than normal. More storms, tornadoes and heavier rains than we are normally used to. More than one report indicated that the increase in damaging storms was due to one thing. The warmer winter. Now I am reading that we could have another dust bowl. Worse than the one that occurred back in the 1930’s. Yes, it is the result of climate change. The long drought that has plagued the California farmers is not over. Recent rains has brought some much welcomed relief. But, long range weather patterns has not vanished. Not yet. That problem, almost 100 years ago, did a lot more than destroy crops. It changed lives. And, it changed farming. Good thing is, we have much better ways to deal with it today. Thank goodness.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner.
