Agri View: Animal Value

DanAgri View, Dairy & Livestock

Everett Griner talks about the affect animal rights groups have on us in today’s Agri View.

The Barnum & Bailey Circus is no more. Gone forever. Some say the closing was the result was from pressure from animal rights activists. Now children growing up will not likely ever see a lion, elephant, or a tiger. The only animals they will ever have any contact with will be pets or farm animals. Here is the scary part. The same animal activist champions have, or will, set their sights on farm animals. All of them. Cattle, horses, sheep, maybe even poultry. Chickens and egg production have already been challenged in some circles. Unlike the circus, farmers cannot simply close down and quit. Without livestock production, our whole population will not have the sufficient healthy foods to sustain them. Maybe it was time for Barnum & Bailey to quit. We will always have pictures.

That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
