A recent announcement made by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Heart Association, called for taxes on sugary drinks as the percentage of consumption presents health risks to children under 18 years of age. In return the AAP suggested substituting milk and water for sugary substances such as power drinks, sodas and and juices with added sugars. This announcement came days after the United States Department of Agriculture released its 2020 dietary guidelines.
