Shipping your food product in bins created from your food waste was the subject of a poster presented at the Blue Valley Tech Water Conference last month in Clovis.

Food Grade Bins From Food Waste

Fresno State Masters Student Michael Nunes says they are taking peach slurry waste from Wawona Fruits and creating a very valuable product. Nunes says the product is also very recyclable; in fact that product can be used to make more of the same. Nunes says the entire process doesn’t have to be at every location and a grower can see some benefit from just having the initial part of the equipment.

Sometimes in a process like this, there can be malfunctions, but Nunes says although that may be somewhat common, the product isn’t wasted at that point. Although the project is in the beginning stages, Nunes says they are on their way to moving forward.
