The Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau Fund for Ag Education has announced the 2015 scholarship program recipients. The scholarship program is made possible through the fund-raising efforts of our annual Spring Fling event.

Recipients include a total of 5 students who submitted applications to our scholarship committee for review and an interview process. Raveena Sohal, a graduate of River Valley High School and daughter of Kamaljit and Niloufer Sohal, plans on attending UC Davis to study agricultural biotechnology.

Jacob Bradley, son of Trena Bradley and a graduate of Sutter High School, is planning to attend Yuba College to prepare for an occupation as a veterinary technician. Also from Sutter High School, William Pearce plans to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to study agricultural and environmental sciences. William is the son of Bill Pearce and Vanessa Helder. Two recipients are graduates from East Nicolaus High School. Mitch Gander, son of Herb and Cindy Gander, plans on initially attending Sierra College as he pursues his studies in ag and crop sciences.

Nicole Helms plans on attending Yuba College in preparation for her career path in ag business and to become a teacher and FFA advisor. Nicole is the daughter of James and Carmen Helms, and is the recipient of the Jim Thomas Memorial Scholarship offered through Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau (YSFB) Fund for Ag Education scholarship program.

The goal of the scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to qualified, graduating high school students from the Yuba and Sutter counties who have long-term career interests in agriculture, by supporting their college education. Over the past twenty years, YSFB has awarded more than $140,000 to deserving students from our communities. In order to support farm families, the YSFB Board of Directors is committed to promoting the availability of these scholarships, as well as recognizing the outstanding students who win each year.

The Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau is a non-governmental, non-profit, voluntary membership California Corporation whose purpose is to protect and promote agricultural interests throughout Yuba and Sutter counties, by representing over 1,250 local YSFB members.
