Now that U.S. producers have established their presence at the Sommet de l’Élevage, they are now talking potential beef trade with the EU. The Sommet is the EU’s largest livestock show in which exhibitors and attendees are encouraged to make business connections. Renee Strickland, who is representing the U.S. Livestock Exporters Association, has said that one of her goals in exhibiting at the Sommet is to talk future trade with France and the EU.

AgNet Media Founder and President Gary Cooper has been in France covering the event. He caught up with Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle, the general director for economic and environmental performance of enterprises in France, about the status of beef trade between the United States and the EU. She discusses the efforts of both parties in having these trade talk, and what she believes the future holds.
