The Flood Insurance for Farmers Act was reintroduced this week by Congressmen John Garamendi and Doug LaMalfa.  The act will provide farmers with discounted rates for flood insurance under the National Flood Insurance Program. It is also seeking to allow construction and repairs for agriculture structures built in high-flood-risk areas designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.  The bill has been back by various federations, associations, counties and a flood agency in northern California. According to a press release issued by the office of Garamendi, currently, Congress must reauthorize the National Flood Insurance Program, until then, the Flood Insurance for Farmers Acts awaits action by the House Financial Services Committee.
