Researchers have reported that pest management has and will become more challenging due to warmer temperatures from climate change.

Pests are showing up earlier in the season, producing more generations and are infesting new areas where they have never been before. UC Riverside Entomology Professor John Trumble says one insect in particular that has been introduced before but never lasted is now sticking around. Trumble added that climate change is altering how plants behave, and some are starting to show up in areas they have never been before. Trumble said some applications used in pest management may start being less effective, and entire management systems will have to be altered.
