Most citrus growers know what tamarixia wasps are and what they do, but how is the project doing since the insects’ release?

Populations Doing Well

Researchers wanted to release a parasitic wasp called tamarixia in California and add some biological control to Asian citrus psyllid pest managment. Cooperative Extension Specialist Mark Hoddle says it was important to get a certain type of wasp. Hoddle says the insect is now populating on its own and is doing very well.
