Storage Only Won’t Help Water Crisis

The current water bills that legislators are trying to get passed into law address added water storage in one way or another. Western Growers Association Executive Vice President Dave Puglia was on a panel at the Center for Produce Safety’s Produce Research Symposium. Puglia said that simply adding storage above the Delta won’t fix the problem. With the current pumping regulations still in place, added storage will only mean more water will be pumped out to sea. Anyone below the Delta will not see the added water benefit. Puglia says that added storage will only be beneficial if the delivery system is fixed.
