Sorghum is an annual grass and one of the top cereal crops in the world. It’s highly drought tolerant and here in the U.S. is mainly used as an animal feed but is gaining popularity as a gluten-free grain. In other parts of the world, sorghum is regularly used for human consumption. There is also large potential for another use. Sorghum can be used as a biofuel, as the grain can produce ethanol.

At the field day next week, growers will get a close-up view of a variety of grain sorghum hybrids as well as speak with experts who have been involved in growing the crop. The field day is scheduled for next Wednesday, September 25th at the College of the Sequoias Tulare campus. Field tours start at 10:30.
