A breed of almond is proving to be beneficial to pollinators and could increase yields.
Self -Fertile Almond Proving Popular
Pollination and honey bees were a hot topic at the 2014 Almond Conference this month. Burchell Nursery in Fresno was showing attendees a variety of almond called Lone Star that is self-fertile. Ron Boone with Burchell Nursery says the self-fertile variety makes it easier for bees to pollinate, and the product is proving to be comparable to the standards.
