Register for Agricultural Reuse Workshop

Brian German Agri-Business, Water

The Water Environment & Reuse Foundation (WE&RF) is hosting an Agricultural Reuse Workshop in partnership with the State Water Resources Control Board of California on January 31 at the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District.  The workshop will provide information of the science of agricultural water reuse as it relates to the Western United States.

Agricultural ReuseRegistration and the continental breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. followed by a welcoming address from Julie Minton, Program Director at WE&RF for Water Reuse and Desalination.  Attendees will be provided with time for a brief self-introduction before hearing information on the state of agricultural reuse of recycled water.

Kara Nelson, Professor of Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley, will be discussing the impediments of using recycled water in agriculture.  There will also be a presentation focused on the opportunities for increasing the use of recycled water in the agriculture industry before the morning coffee break.

Attendees will hear about the importance of recycled water to the state’s agriculture industry, along with information on using recycled water to help recharge groundwater basins on farmland.  Professor of Environmental Studies at University of California Santa Cruz Brent Haddad will be addressing the perception issues toward using recycled water in agriculture.  Following the afternoon coffee break, there will be a series of panel presentations regarding experiences with using recycled water in agricultural operations.

Registration for the Agricultural Reuse Workshop is available through the WE&RF website.
