Spider mites can take a big bite out of corn silage yields especially during the hot and dry summer months. But as farmers learned at the World Ag Expo in Tulare, there is some help. Sabrina Hill reports.

Carol Frate of the U-C Cooperative Extension in Tulare County had good advice for growers during a seminar on controlling spider mites. Be proactive with protecting your corn silage crop.

Frate shared details about her field trials just north of Tulare with various miticides… including new products out on the market.

She urges growers to rotate their miticide applications to avoid resistance and to work with their PCAs to decide what’s best for them.
