In early December, at the G20 summit, Mexican and Canadian officials signed off on the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA). It was only a matter of time before the U.S. Congress approved and ratified the USMCA replacing NATFA. Now, a month later and no significant progress made, President Trump is looking to get the ball rolling a little faster. His recent efforts to move forward with USMCA include potentially canceling NAFTA. A cancellation of NAFTA would put the pressure on Congress by giving them a six-month deadline before more tariffs are added on to more goods.
