The deadline is coming up to make nominations for the 2019 California Leopold Conservation Award.  The prestigious honor, which consists of $10,000 and a crystal award, is presented by the Sand County Foundation and given in honor of renowned conservationist Aldo Leopold.  In California, the $10,000 award is presented with Sustainable Conservation and the California Farm Bureau Federation (CFBF).

Nominations may be submitted on behalf of a landowner, or landowners may also nominate themselves for efforts that exemplify dedication to land, water and wildlife habitat management on private working lands.  Applications can be found through the Sand County Foundation website and submissions will need to be postmarked no later than July 15.  Award criteria are used by an independent panel of agricultural and conservation professionals to evaluate each application.  The award itself will be presented at the CFBF Annual Meeting in December.
