Huanglongbing is also known as citrus greening disease.
The USDA is creating an “emergency response framework” to battle Huanglongbing. It pulls together experts along with various groups and agencies and experts to coordinate and focus federal research on Huanglongbing.
The USDA will also spend $1 million to support research projects. In addition, it will launch a new section on its website about the citrus disease.
Huanglongbing disease is spread by the Asian citrus psyllid, which has been found in several areas around California. So far, only one tree in the state has been infected with the disease. That was at a residence in Los Angeles County.
