Not surprisingly, the orange blossom is Florida’s state flower. Not only do the flowers result in the sweet as sunshine orange fruit, but thanks to the pollinating bees, we also get to enjoy a unique honey with a faintly orange flavor a delightful treat. Everyday is a food holiday and June 27 is National Orange Blossom Day. Orange blossoms are not used directly as food, but they found their place in culinary dishes.Bee pollinating orange blossom flower in spring

Orange blossoms are used in different treats and desserts worldwide. Any dish will have a slight citrus flavor due to adding some orange blossoms. And drinks are especially delicious with orange blossoms. You can taste orange blossoms through honey. When bees pollen orange trees, the resulting honey has got the citrusy taste. This honey is very expensive, but a spoon of it would be great for a fresh French toast.

However, National Orange Blossom Day honors not only small white flowers, but also the Orange Blossom cocktail. Mix 1 ounce of apricot brandy, 1/2 ounce of Galliano, 1/2 ounce of orange juice, 1 ounce of vodka and ice. Pour cocktail in highball glass and top with ginger ale. Decorate cocktail with a slice of orange.

There is another recipe of Orange Blossom cocktail. Mix in shaker 2 ounces of gin, 1 ounce of orange juice, 1 teaspoon of sugar and ice cubes. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. Garnish cocktail with an orange slice. Now you can celebrate the holiday.
