The University of California Davis (UC Davis) project that is flooding ag land during the winter months is planning on testing more crops in the future.

More Crops To Be Tested

UC Davis researchers are flooding crops that are winter dormant to help replenish groundwater levels. The project started with grapevines and alfalfa, with almonds on the slate for this winter. UC Davis Integrated Hydrological Sciences Assistant Professor Helen Dahlke says that’s just the beginning.

Dahlke says obviously some crops are not good candidates, especially where excessive leaching can be a concern.
