One region will test the Irrigated Lands Regulatory Program (ILRP) nitrogen reporting and determine what other challenges they see in the process besides the timing of deadlines.
Challenges With ILRP Reporting
The East San Joaquin County Water Quality Coalition has an April 1 deadline to submit nitrogen reporting for the ILRP. Stanislaus County Farm Bureau Executive Director Wayne Zipser says the only real challenge they have seen so far is the deadline. Many of their producers are just starting to get busy as spring kicks in to gear and doing some paperwork is the last thing on their agendas.
This is the first group to test the reporting process and Zipser says they expect to see where some things can be changed to make it easier for everyone else.
