Cooperative Extension Farm Advisor Franz Niederholzer says almond producers in the northern part of the state are seeing early navel orangeworm activity.

Niederholzer says this is likely because of the early season due to the warmer temperatures. An early season means growers could see more generations of pests through the process and that’s especially the case with navel orangeworm.

The recent humidity throughout the state only makes the potential higher, and continued damp conditions will bring along another set of problems that he says may need to be addressed this year.
