farm safetyFall harvest is a season in which farmers are trying to get as much done as they can as fast as possible no matter what time of day it is. It’s a critical period for a farmer’s bottom line. The University of Minnesota says it’s an important for farmers to be safe during the scramble of harvest. Michael Cruse is an Extension Educator with the University of Minnesota. He says it’s possible for farmers to remain safety-conscious even when budgets are tight.

Budgets

For example, he says one of the more common tractor accidents could be easily prevented with minimal cost in terms of time and money.

Tractors

Cruse says small investments can give farmers a great return on safety. In addition to slow-moving vehicle signs, proper lighting on equipment is a big key to safety.

Lighting

There are many simple things farmers can do to take care of their physical health during a stressful season like harvest.
