Dan This Land of Ours

exoticCathy Isom fills us in about some exotic fruits to try and why. That’s coming up on this Land of Ours.

Exotic Fruits to Try and Why

It’s unsure of the exact number of edible fruit species available for human consumption, but it is estimated that there are more than 20,000 species of edible plants. It is also highly probable that even if you were able to eat a different fruit every day of our life you still couldn’t every fruit of your life

Although local fruits from many parts of the world are too fragile to survive a trip to America, some exotic fruits do make it to our grocery stores and specialty health food shops. Some varieties of unusual and exotic fruits are even grown right in our “backyards”. For example, pitaya, also known as dragon fruit,  Jackfruit. Papaya, Mango, soursop, egg fruit, Mammy Sapote, Mangosteen,  and Ugli Fruit.

And, If you’re used to enjoying the same staple fruits you’ve grown up eating, it might be time to expand your culinary horizons and try some of these exotic and unusual fruits.
