Many agriculture groups are now switching their focus to making a push for the Trans-Pacific Partnership before a new Congress. Groups including the American Farm Bureau Federation, the National Pork Producers Council and the National Corn Growers Association are pressing the current Congress to consider and approve the trade deal during the lame-duck session. The fate of TPP remains uncertain, however, with congressional leadership voicing concerns and opposition to the deal. But the Obama Administration believes it can push the deal through Congress before the administration leaves the White House. Further, Bloomberg reported Tuesday that recent polling suggested “lukewarm” support for the deal, not the “bitter opposition” seen on the campaign trails of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
